Introduction

Milk thistle is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant of the genus Silybum in the Asteraceae family. It prefers a warm and sunny environment, is widely distributed,

and has strong adaptability. It is native to southern Europe and North Africa, and is cultivated in North China and Northwest China. Achenes can be used as medicine 

and are rich in silymarin. Its extracts are widely used to treat liver and cardiovascular diseases.
