Introduction

Phellodendron amurense is a plant of the Rutaceae family, which is divided into Sichuan Phellodendron amurense and Guan Phellodendron amurense. It is distributed in 

eastern, central and southern China. Its bark can be used as medicine, mostly in the form of plates, with a yellow-brown outer surface and dark yellow inner surface. This 

plant contains a variety of active ingredients such as alkaloids (including 1%-6% berberine hydrochloride) and limonoids. It likes a cool and humid climate and is resistant 

to severe cold. It is a traditional Chinese medicine.

Function

The main active ingredient of Phellodendron chinense extract is berberine hydrochloride, which has multiple effects;

1. Antibacterial, it has an inhibitory effect on various bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Shigella dysenteriae, and can effectively treat diarrhea and dysentery caused 

by intestinal infection and relieve intestinal inflammation;

2. Anti-inflammatory, it can inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators and relieve redness, swelling and pain at the inflammatory site;

3. Regulate intestinal function, it helps to balance the intestinal flora, inhibit harmful bacteria, have little effect on beneficial bacteria, and enhance intestinal barrier 

function;

3. Lower blood sugar, can improve insulin resistance and promote insulin secretion;

4. Anti-arrhythmic effect, it can inhibit the autonomy of myocardial cells and has a therapeutic effect on some arrhythmias.
